This standard is applicable to the cathodic corrosion protection of the underwater surfaces of steel surface-watercraft by galvanic anodes according to VG 81257 (hereinafter referred to as anodes) in salt water (sea water) and brackish water. The standard contains regulations for both the calculatory interpretation and the arrangement of the external protection on the ship's hull and the appendages, propeller, shafts and openings.
