Summary

This standard is applicable to joining pieces used as part of the NATO BREAKABLE SPOOL COUPLING on the receiving ship during a ship-to-ship stern-bow refuelling operation. For an emergency breakaway of the hose, the joining piece is provided with an annular notch as a predetermined breaking point. With this joining piece, the requirements of STANAG 1223 (Standardization of the Breakable Spool Coupling for Astern and Abeam Fuelling at Sea) and NATO ATP 16(D) (Replenisment at sea) are fulfilled.
