This standard provides general information and conceptual requirements for the representation and maintenance of operational readiness of land vehicles and systems. The basis are legislative requirements according to the WWH-OBD GTR VOBD which are extended with specific functionality in the area of maintenance of operational readiness of land vehicles and systems. VG 96922-3 shall provide all requirements for an authoring system to support the representation and maintenance of operational readiness of land vehicles and systems. VG 96922-3 does not specify implementation-specific details for the development of a multi-brand, cross-functional diagnostic test system. VG 96922-3 contains the most important requirements of the authoring system which are compatible with VG 96922-8 'Business process guidelines'. VG 96922-3 shall include all requirements which assure an optimized diagnostic authoring process combined with a clear separation of land system protocols from diagnostic data, diagnostic applications, GUI and the text string language.
