Summary
This part of the International Standard specifies the minimum operational and performance requirements, methods of testing and required test results for Class B shipborne AIS equipment using CSTDMA techniques. This standard is applicable to AIS equipment used on craft that are not covered by the mandatory carriage requirement under SOLAS Chapter V. This second edition updates the reference to the relevant ITU Recommendation from M.1371-1 to M.1371-3 with some consequential small changes. Further small revision have been made to the frequencies used for testing in some test methods.

DIN EN 62287-1 (2007-01) remains valid alongside this standard until 2014-01-01.*A transition period, as set out in DIN EN 62287-1/A1 (2014-10) and DIN EN 62287-1 (2018-01), exists until 2020-05-10.
