The guideline gives an overview of the state of the art of reducing emissions from thermal waste treatment and advice for the construction and operation of waste incineration plants in particular. The directive deals with the thermal treatment of municipal solid waste, hazardous waste, refuse derived fuels, sewage sludge, clinical waste and waste wood. The co-incineration in industrial plants is discussed, too.
