The standard gives a comprehensive introduction to thermal waste treatment. In addition, it gives an overview of the state of the art of reducing emissions from thermal waste treatment and advice in particular for the construction and operation of waste incineration plants. The standard deals with the thermal treatment of municipal solid waste, hazardous waste, refuse derived fuels, sewage sludge, clinical waste and waste wood. The co-incineration in industrial plants is also discussed.
