The standard describes methods for generating test aerosols using combustion processes and other thermal reactions. These test aerosols can be used to determine the separation or penetration performance of precipitation or separation systems (e.g. filters). Further possible applications are the provision of test materials and standardised samples for further analyses. These methods have a multitude of applications in science and technology.
