This standard specifies a conventional method for the measurement of methane in the concentration range between 1 ppm and at least 10000 ppm at the surface of a landfill and its immediate surroundings using a portable instrument. The method serves to localise existing landfill gas emissions by carrying out numerous point measurements during a walkover survey. The achieved measurement values are not quantitatively reproducible and therefore not suitable as basis for the calculation of emission rates.
