The guideline describes the procedures and artifacts for checking the signal transmission chain of form measuring instruments. The determination of the sensitivity of the signal transmission chain, taking into account the special dynamic conditions of form measuring tools, is a fundamental task of ensuring comparability and traceability of measurements from form measurements. This checking is part of the metrological confirmation of the measuring system. It serves both the determination of the percentage of deviation by the chain of signal transmission and also the calibration of the form measuring system. The procedure and the used artifacts are applicable to other measuring instruments, such as coordinate measuring machines, if they are used for form measurements.
