Temperature is one of the most important parameters in the industrial control and automation technology. Knowledge about the dynamic parameters of the temperature measurement is therefore of great importance. Often, however, the dynamic characteristics of temperature sensors and thermometers are not given enough attention. Especially with rapidly changing temperatures or at very short measuring processes, it is important to know the characteristics of thermometers. Therefore, the principles for the dynamic behaviour of contact thermometers and the corresponding dynamic parameters are defined in this standard. It gives important information for the assessment of thermometers in terms of their time response. Only then the measured value for the temperature can be interpreted correctly.
